Hannes Clerico not only ran his industrial business but was also a collector of art and for a period of time commissioned artists to contribute a performance.
In this case, Arthur Wicks positioned himself near the road junction at Rohrdorf/Rosenheim which led to to the main route to Austria. Road repairs were in progress (or recently completed); their evidence clearly visible.
He laid a large piece of heavy duty paper at the junction; covering it with plaster of Paris. The traffic
was unable to avoid driving across it; recording their fleeting presence.
Wicks then positioned himself on a mound of sand left by the repair gang; covered himself with the same plaster and remained as an inert sentry and observor for the duration of the performance. At this point the paper was collected from the road leaving just a shadow of the earlier traffic movement on the roadway.
